Not too much today

Remember a while back when biotech IPOs were all the rage? Well one of those (Omeros) didn't fare so well, but that didn't deter others from joining the party. Here's who is (Trius) and could be up (Anthera and Aldagen):

Trius Therapeutics: specializes in new antibiotics for complicated skin infections. seems like a niche market, but one good product is all you really need...

Anthera Pharmaceuticals: aims to fight unment needs in a variety of serious conditions using human enzyme inhibitors. I'm not sold on this quite yet (but that could be a lack of fundamental understanding). Wait and see what happens as testing progresses....

Aldagen: specializes in adult stem cells to treat a variety of conditions. I could go either way with Aldagen. On the one hand stem cells have all the promise in the world to treat a variety of currently untreatable conditions, but there has been little definitive evidence to prove that stem cells can consistently deliver. Maybe more research is needed to get that evidence, but right now, go with your gut. If it's cheap maybe get a piece of Aldagen and sit on it.

Finally, Xenoport and GSK are facing an additional delay from the FDA on their modified gabapentin for use in treating neuropathic pain. As addressed earlier, this drug has the potential to decrease side effects associated with gabapentin, but the FDA seems to feel that additional risk management plans be implemented before this product can be reviewed in full...I guess we'll have to wait 3 more months for more information...
